The advance of the [electronic scales]

The advance of the [electronic scales]

In their original incarnation, hundreds of years ago, weighing scales were called balances.

Weight is a measurement, something which we categorise by and make calculations upon. Because it is a way in which we order and understand the world, it is imperative that it is precise, which is why [electronic scales] are so important.

With the help of modern computers, we are able to build incredibly precise [electronic scales] which can be depended upon to be wholly accurate, and which are also very easy to use. Precise [electronic scales] are also important on a smaller scale by individuals in the home or office. For example, if you’re following a recipe, especially when baking, measurements need to be exact. There is nothing worse than a floppy souffle, darling.

Additionally, [electronic scales] reassure both the customer and the employee in a situation where money or expensive materials that have a cost equivalent need to be weighed out, for example in a bank or jewellers.

Again, it is best to use [electronic scales] when safety is important, such as in the construction industry.

Whilst we don’t focus on on construction here at Digital Scales 2 U, we do concentrate on delivering our customers the very best pocket [electronic scales] at the very best prices.

The importance of the electronic scales

The importance of the electronic scales

Humans have been able to measure and weigh mass for many centuries, but the ability to do so precisely has only occurred in more modern times, with the advance of computers, and therefore electronic scales.

There are many advantages of being able to weight material precisely. Many industries depend on precise weight for safety, such as the health and construction industries. Trade and import / export are reassured by precise electronic scales because the materials they are dealing in have a cost equivalent.

But it is equally important for people in the home who need electronic scales to follow recipes, to weigh themselves, or their baby, or to weigh mass that has a cost equivalent on a smaller than industry scale.

We care about quality and cost at Digital Scales 2 U and would like to reassure our customers than we have carefully selected a range of electronic scales that score off of the scale in terms of low cost and high quality.

Digital Scale

How a cheap replica digital scale helps free market economics

A fake digital scale from China often comes at an ultra cheap price. The effect this has on the market is to increase competition, which can often be a good thing. This is what capitalism is based upon. As a result, digital scales manufacturers have lowered their prices in order to better compete, and so when a customer buys a genuine digital scale from a genuine manufacturer, they get a great digital scale at a rock bottom price!

On the flipside, a fake digital scale from China tends to be a low-quality digital scale product. If a consumer buys one of these, then it works out more expensive for them: when the digital scale breaks, or if it doesn’t work at all, they have to re-invest in a genuine digital scale. But if they buy a digital scale from the right place, they will get more digital scale bang for their buck.

Price and precision

It used to be that people had two options when buying scales. They could get accuracy, even down to 0.01g, but the scales would have a small maximum load. Alternatively, they could get a large maximum load but not the ability to weigh in precise 0.01g increments. However, these days, that’s not a problem. Many postal scales weigh in 0.01g increments but weigh up to 5kg. Even more common are scales that weigh from 0.01g to 1000g. In fact, most scales weigh from 0.01g to 1000g, including small weighting scales, so you don’t have to house something cumbersome in your home to get scale and precision in one machine.

One factor to consider is price, however. A scale that weighs 0.01g to 1000g will be more expensive than one that weighs 1g to 1000g, so it’s advisable to decide if you really need 0.01g weighing precision in what you’re weighing.

What to look for in 10kg weighing scales

If you’re buying 10kg weighing scales, then you’re probably looking for a tool to help you in your baking needs. 10kg weighing scales are great for baking, cake making and bread making because they usually come with a large removable bow specifically designed to take larger amounts. When buying 10kg weighing scales look for handy extras, such as add and weigh features, which allow you to measure a multitude of ingredients in the same bowl! Most 10kg weighing scales are also capable of weighing liquids, but do check. There are lots of traditional 10kg weighing scales, but just as many modern 10kg weighing scales. The latter have features like a conversion button to flip between metric and imperial weights. Most 10kg weighing scales also have an LCD display and come with a bowl at least one litre in size.

Accurate Scales

Go digital for more accurate scales

The whole point and purpose of having scales is to weigh amounts. Like words, weights are a way of defining and categorising the world. What’s more, weight is used to understand if something is unhealthy, or healthy. For example, to measure if a pregnancy or a newborn baby’s weight is progressing healthily. It is also necessary to understand how much something costs because of its weight, like diamonds, or post. Health and money are both important things, so it’s important to have accurate scales. It therefore makes sense to go digital, as these are the most accurate scales you can get.

The first accurate scales were called balances and used a horizontal lever with equal length arms (the beam), with a weighing scale suspended from each arm. Balances are more accurate scales unlike spring scales, which are affected by local gravity.

What makes balance sales accurate scales is that balance ensures that the fulcrum of the beam is essentially friction-free. However, since the birth of digital scales, balances have been deemed archaic in favour of much more accurate scales; digital scales.

Argos Digital Pocket Scales

A frustrated search for Argos Digital Pocket Scales

Keen to compare the market and to find the best digital scales at the most rock bottom price, I typed ‘Argos Digital Pocket Scales’ into Google. But nothing relevant came up; just bathroom scales and kitchen scales. Undeterred, I to Argos,co.uk and typed in Argos Digital Pocket Scales. Nothing still.  I then tried Digital Pocket Scales, and finally Pocket Scales. But it seems that the Argos pocket digital scales range amounts to some digital bathroom scales, some digital kitchen scales and mostly the traditional non-digital bathroom and kitchen scales, and certainly no digital pocket scales. The range of Argos digital scales amounts to zero. Perhaps they’re in the Argos catalogue and haven’t yet been put online? Either way, my online search for the cheapest and best digital pocket returned nothing.

If anyone from Argos is reading, let’s have an Argos Digital Pocket Scales range soon.

Smallest Cheap Digital Pocket Scales

The cheap digital pocket scales market has been ultra competitive of late with manufacturers trying to beat each other in an ongoing marathon to bring out the smallest, most accurate and cheapest set of digital pocket scales.

In our opinion the Jennings MSM2 Matchbox series are cheap digital pocket scales right on the money. As cheap digital pocket scales go, these are quite simply the dinkiest cheap digital pocket scales available anywhere. They come in a number of variants including 50g, 200g and 500g. They are incredibly stylish, and precise to boot measuring in 0.1gs.

They say the designer wanted them to look like an actual matchbox, which is why it has a slide in and slide out function – and why it’s about the size of four matchboxes. It’s totally cool.

At digitalscales2u.co.uk we can provide this model cheaper than anywhere else in the cheap digital pocket scales market, and these cheap digital pocket scales come with a 15-year guarantee.

Cheap Digital Scales

How cheap digital scales are improving competition in the marketplace making it better for consumers.

Chinese digital scales manufacturers produce low-quality cheap digital scales products, which work out more expensive for consumers as they need to be replaced much more quickly, or often don’t work at all. The good news is that consumers still benefit from this because genuine cheap digital scales manufacturers have still reduced their prices meaning that consumers, if they buy from the right place, get more bang for their buck.

With so many fake cheap digital scales flooding the market a price war ensues, which can often be a good thing. In fact, competition is not only relevant to the digital scales market, it is what capitalism is based upon. As a result, manufacturers have had to lower costs, or in other words put out the same products cheaper to better compete, and naturally the benefits of cheap digital scales (lower prices from genuine manufacturers) is passed on to the customer!

When to recalibrate Cheap Pocket Scales

People often ask us when to recalibrate pocket scales. Often the problem is actually that a customer has bought some cheap pocket sales from a Chinese manufacturer and the recalibration function doesn’t work.

If the cheap pocket scales screen ever reads ‘LLL’ or ‘EEE’ it normally suggests that the weighing mechanism has been damaged, likely from being dropped. However, with cheap pocket scales, dropping them is not always the cause and it could be that you will need to re-invest in a new product as you might find that the guarantee is not genuine and that when you send the cheap pocket scales back for repair, they are never returned. Nonetheless, it is worth trying to recalibrate it by following the instructions.

If the screen reads ‘888’ it suggests that the batteries are close to running out. Alternatively, that the cheap pocket scales are having trouble defining ‘0’ is.  This is also a common problem with cheap pocket scales. If you replace the batteries and the problem persists, you will need to send your cheap pocket scales in for repair if they are still under guarantee.

‘UNST’ means that the machine is on an uneven surface. If you are sure that this is not the problem, then it indicates that the cheap pocket scales has load cell damage. If this is the case, please try recalibrating the pocket scales. If this produces no positive outcome then you will need to consult your warranty guidelines.
